Profession: Wanderer. Kydos is entirely self-sufficient. He does not eat or drink, and must only sleep for four hours of the day. As such, he has no need for a job or income and does not even have to rely on begging.
Lifestyle: Kydos is a wanderer. He roams the land adjusting to his new body and trying to find a home. His new found powers have allowed him the luxury to never again sleep hungry. As such he explores the country to practice his psionic power of bending minds to his will. On arrival to a new town, Kydos will typically search out a secluded area to hide and rest so that he will not be disturbed. Occasionally, he may ask an inn owner to stay in the cellar over the night to ensure that he has a roof over his head. If he is met with any confrontation with his sleeping arrangements, he will try to twist their perceptions of him favorably before bargaining. The deal usually includes helping clean up or some other menial tasks to help out the innkeeper manage his business. To help conceal his nonhuman nature, Kydos will go out of his way to be as helpful to those who help him and compliant to authority figures. Kydos mostly just wants to feel that he can belong, but at the same time he is afraid of staying too long or his secret may be discovered.
History: Kydos was born to a large family in abject poverty trying to survive in a particularly filthy slum in Bluehill. His father would typically spend much of his earnings on alcohol rather than care for his family. As such, Kydos felt compelled at an early age to leave home so his family would have one less mouth to feed. Living on the streets of Bluehill was rough, but his small stature and keen mind kept him out of trouble. He survived by begging for food and occasionally getting handouts from the churches. The Church of Pelor would often approach him to join their clergy, however Kydos felt that he would be more of an inconvenience to take care of and was never admitted. One day, Kydos attempted to beg for some spare change from an adventurer recently returned from a successful adventure. This adventurer happened to be an elan who quickly recognized the child’s brilliance. Instead of receiving enough coin to pay for a week of food, the 12 year old Kydos was riding on a magnificent warhorse with the elan headed for the nearest enclave. Upon his arrival at the elan enclave, hidden away in the mountains, the Council of Cullers agreed that while Kydos was exactly the right mold to be made an elan he was too young. The Council decided it best that he stay there until he was of age and then continue with the transformation. Those three years were brutal for Kydos as he felt like a human outcast and a burden on the entire enclave, but as a young human he could not survive the treacherous mountain pass out. When he was finally made an elan, he welcomed the change to feel welcome but the enclave still never felt like home. He used his psionic powers to leave the mountaintop and begin searching for a home amongst the humans. This search has taken two years, and he has arrived in Greenswave. It’s a large city, so he may be able to find several places to stay but he finds himself drawn to the slums. He sees others in the same situation he was in, but does not know how best to help them yet. He will go out of his way to earn food for any child he sees alone on the streets.
Appearance: Kydos tries his best to look as much like an average citizen of Greenswave, despite his alien nature. He has taken to cropping his dark brown hair very short in the same manner that many of his “neighbors” in Ratfoot Avenue. He even keeps his facial hair as scruffy looking as possible to designate a poor station in life. He dresses as a pauper and tries to maintain that appearance to be more easily overlooked. What he cannot hide is his eyes. No matter how hard he may try, his green eyes still clearly show an inner brilliance as he observes everyone he encounters.
Personality: Kydon is distrustful of everyone he encounters. He is afraid that others will spurn him for being an aberration so he tries to blend in as carefully as he can. Still, he is paranoid that others are deliberately searching for his secret.
Goals: Kydon is looking for a home. He wants to belong, but feels that nobody will accept him. In the enclave, he was that human child and in human societies he’s an aberration. Long-term relationships are particularly hard for him to maintain as he does not physically age anymore. Right now he is content with being an anonymous caretaker of poor children and will often lead some of them to the Church of Pelor for help. He does not worship Pelor directly, but he trusts the members of that specific Church since they were so kind to him as a child.
